Airlines in the public eye
In mid-2004 Oceanic Airlines had become the darling of the airliner industry. Appealing to travelers and investors alike, everything the company touched was gold - including its partnership with the Hanso Foundation. The partnership was destined to eventually create the first completely electronically piloted fleet of airline jets in the world, light years ahead of their competitors. The Artificial Intelligence Piloting System (AIPS) would create the safest pilots ever. Pilots that never needed sleep, drank on the job, or spilled drinks on a bad turn. Although the project was ahead of schedule and nearing testing, tragedy struck the invincible Oceanic Airlines on September 22, 2004. Oceanic Airlines Flight 815 disappeared while travelling to Los Angeles, California from Sydney, Australia. The general media along with the public lashed out at Oceanic Airlines and outrageous conspiracies about the flight were concocted which often confused simple details such as naming the jetplane as a Lockheed L-1011 instead of the correct Boeing 777.
Whatever the cause, the mystery of the crash scared away so much travel business that Oceanic Airlines officially closed its doors for business shortly after the tragedy. Since then, Scientists from the Hanso Foundation have joined with authorities to solve the mystery and found a less sensationalistic story.
